Healthy Kids in Healthy Places Community Action Forum

All of us have a role to play in helping to decrease childhood obesity. From schools, youth organizations, health care and public health to families, day care, community groups and the food industry; we can and must work together to make a difference.

On May 9, 2007, more than 250 community members and experts got together at the University of Minnesota's St. Paul campus to explore what can be done today to make the right choices to help keep our next generation healthy.

  • Survey results: As a result of the forum, 88 percent of attendees acted to promote healthy weight in children and adolescents. However, they expected a lack of funding to be their biggest obstacle.
  • Recommendations: These recommendations are based on the findings of the survey of participants in the Healthy Kids in Healthy Places Community Action Forum.
