  • Acclaim Award: Patient –Centered Care

    Allina Medical Clinic, is the recipient of the 2009 American Medical Group Association (AMGA) Acclaim Award. AMGA's prestigious Acclaim Award honors organizations that embrace the Institute of Medicine's aims for an ideal health care system and have demonstrated dramatic, measurable progress in moving their organizations toward one or more of the aims. The six aims are safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient and equitable.

  • Raising the Bar: Rewarding Innovation in Healthcare Value.

    Awarded for implementing a new program that teaches staff at clinics about optimal diabetes care, which is helping reduce health complications from the disease such as heart attacks and strokes. 2009

  • Minnesota Bridges to Excellence.
  • Awarded for providing optimal care to patients with diabetes and/or cardiovascular disease. Allina Medical Clinic was recognized for a commitment to the care of patients, and understanding that quality care is critical to improving the lives of patients.

  • Top 100 Hospital for Cardiovascular Care.

    Thomson Reuters rated Mercy Hospital one of the nation's 100 top cardiovascular hospitals 7 years in a row. This award measures performance on key criteria at the nation's top performing acute care hospitals. 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003

  • Chest Pain Center Accreditation.

    The Society of Chest Pain Centers awarded accreditation to Mercy's Emergency Department, Heart & Vascular Center and emergency medical personnel for their extensive and coordinated effort to reduce deaths from heart disease. 2009-2011

  • Minnesota Hospital Association Patient Safety Excellence Award.

    Mercy Hospital was recognized for excellence in safe skin and safe site. 2009

  • Level III Designated Trauma Center.

    Designated by the Minnesota Statewide Trauma System of the Minnesota Department of Health. Level II certification survey pending. 2009

  • Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence.

    Three Mercy nursing units were recognized for critical care excellence by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. The award highlights excellence in critical care patient systems, outcomes and an environment for patient safety. (Intensive Care Unit - 2009, 2006, 2005, Critical Care Stepdown - 2009, Heart Care Unit - 2010

  • Primary Stroke Center.

    This national certification by The Joint Commission recognizes the specialized care required by stroke patients, from early identification to immediate treatment and rehabilitation. 2009

  • College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.

    Accreditation with commendation awarded to Mercy & Unity Cancer Centers. 2009, 2005, 2004, 2003

Unity Hospital, Fridley

  • The Minnesota Hospital Association Patient Safety Excellence Award.

    Unity Hospital was the first hospital in Minnesota to receive all four awards for superior performance in preventing four categories of adverse health events. 2009

  • College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.

    Accreditation with commendation awarded to Mercy & Unity Cancer Centers. 2009, 2005, 2004, 2003

  • Institute for Healthcare Improvement.

    Unity Hospital was recognized for reducing patient mortality well below the national average.

  • Best Minnesota Hospital Workplace.

    Awarded by the Minnesota Hospital Association. 2005

  • Level III Designated Trauma Center.

    Designated by the Minnesota Statewide Trauma System of the Minnesota Department of Health. 2008

  • Outstanding Achievement Award.

    The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons recognized Mercy and Unity Hospitals for programs that strive for excellence in providing quality care to cancer patients. 2006

  • Bariatric Center of Excellence.

    The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery designated Unity Hospital a Center of Excellence in Bariatric (weight loss) Surgery. Unity's special focus includes a dedicated, sensitivity-trained staff that supports the physical and emotional needs of patients. 2009

  • Minnesota Hospital Association Patient Safety Excellence Award.

    Buffalo Hospital's Birth Center was recognized for excellence in patient safety. 2009

  • Minnesota Hospital Association Patient Safety Excellence Award.

    Awarded for preventing wrong patient surgeries and reducing adverse health events. 2009

  • Minnesota Hospital Association Patient Safety Excellence Award.

    Awarded for preventing falls. 2008
