Services
Abbott Northwestern’s ED partners with Minneapolis Heart Institute® to provide the best possible care for chest pain, aortic aneurysms and other cardiovascular emergencies.
Abbott Northwestern was the first hospital in Minnesota to be accredited by the Society of Chest Pain Centers, primarily because of Minneapolis Heart Institute®’s Level One Heart Attack program.
Neurological emergencies
To treat neurological emergencies like a Stroke or brain injury, the ED has access to the resources and expertise of the Neuroscience Institute.
Clinical Decision and Rapid Treatment
Some patients do not require treatment by the ED team, but do need to stay for observation before determining whether they should be discharged. For them, we have a Clinical Decision and Rapid Treatment unit located next to the ED.
For illnesses and injuries that do not need emergency attention, but require treatment sooner than you can get an appointment at a regular clinic, you can find the care you need at an urgent care clinic.
