For American women, heart disease is the leading cause of death. One out of
every two women will die from heart disease. Stroke is the third leading cause
of death. Yet most women are unaware of these risks.
In response to the growing need to support women in reducing their risk for heart disease, The Heart & Vascular Centers of Mercy Hospital launched a women’s heart and vascular disease prevention service as part of the Wellness Program.
The goal of the program is to assist women in identifying and reducing cardiovascular risk factors through screening and one year of coaching. The Center's screening and individualized health improvement strategies are important for women of all ages, with special emphasis on women in their 20s, 30s and 40s, when preventative action should be initiated. However, women of all ages are encouraged to take part in this unique service.
An investment of $95 covers the cost of your appointment and follow up for one
year provided by staff from the Women’s Heart Center. The package
includes a brief health history, lab work drawn including lipid profile, glucose and others, education about individual
cardiovascular risk factors, discussion of resources available, a personal healthy lifestyle
plan and follow up care. Other support services and referrals may be offered as appropriate.
